Abstract: Distribution system operators are increasingly challenged by the growing penetration of distributed renewable energy sources and the electrification of transport and heating. While grid reinforcement remains a necessary response, it alone is insufficient to address the full scope of these emerging pressures. Rising demands for grid observability and the integration of flexibility services call for the deployment of advanced digital tools and platforms. This panel will explore how digitalisation has become an indispensable component in meeting these challenges and will examine the current state of implementation across the sector.
